Bob Parks — Retired Track and Field Coach, Eastern Michigan University; 1952 BA in physical education from Eastern Michigan University; MA from Michigan State University Eastern has been a family affair and a legacy that I am very proud of. My mother went to EMU, I went to EMU, I met my wife here and all four of my children graduated from EMU. I eventually began working at EMU and so did my wife. Now, two of my children work here. I am encouraging my grandchildren to also choose EMU. I began my own legacy with EMU as a three-time letter winner in track and then spent 34 years as the men’s track coach. I led the Eagles to 31 Mid-American Conference (MAC) titles and was named NCAA National Coach of the Year once and regional Coach of the Year nine times. EMU’s track teams have been represented in every Olympics since 1960. We have so much to offer these athletes. They get taught by great faculty and have a large variety of academic offerings; it is a great place to be an athlete and get a quality education.
