Eastern is preparing Daniel Cichoracki to follow his dreams- all the way to China. Daniel, a member of the EMU Chapter of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and the Chinese/American Student Association is studying early childhood education and reading.
Daniel's creativity and love of teaching is evident by his work at the EMU Children's Institute where he was not afraid to take unique approaches to education. To the delight of his students, he even brought his pet tarantula into class for observation, combining his passion for education and research.
Daniel is the recipient of several scholarships, including the Bess B. Browne Endowed Scholarship for elementary education.
"My scholarships gave me the opportunity to do more research," said Daniel. "Without them I wouldn't have the time."
Daniel expects to graduate in winter2013, with plans to leave his native Livonia to teach English in China, attend graduate school, and conduct research on sociology in education.
